the “Stroller”

Elegant curves, a clean silhouette and graceful simplicity define the debonair look of the Stroller — a hat that emits a sure tone of dressiness, but in a rather unassuming manner. Of course, that tone can be either enhanced or subdued to some degree by one’s choice of colours. The crown is prominent, quite full and vertical, but the deep centre crease and wide ribbon keep the visual centre of gravity nicely anchored. The brim has just a slight sweep upward all around the hat and is not intended to snap. The delicate curvature is supported by a galloon edge (a pleasing note of structural functionality for a design element that is most often used as mere ornamentation). A bow feels like too much of a flourish for this hat, and so the side is adorned with a simple dapper gill-patch. Surprisingly, despite all this restraint, the look manages a certain upbeat cheeriness, especially in lighter colours, like a buoyant stroll on the first balmy day of spring.
